Wellness Journey | 50+ YRS This series features educational speakers over a variety of health and wellness topics. 10 MILLION STEPS TO PREVENT FALLS WALK Recreation Staff & UA CARES The Ohio Department of Aging is encouraging communities to take part in ODA’s 10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls campaign, held annually to encourage Ohioans of all ages to walk as least one mile during the month of September. To contribute to this campaign, the City of Upper Arlington is hosting a local walk at Thompson Park to help raise awareness about older adult falls. Join the UA CARES team for a friendly walk to add steps towards this campaign. Afterall, regular exercise is one of many things people can do to lower their risk of falling. Pedometers available for participants without step-tracking devices. This is an open event. Feel free to walk anytime within the two-hour block. Check in at the Thompson Park North shelter when you arrive. That’s exactly what happens in death cafes where people can and do open up as widely as they want, even laughing about very serious matters. This session is an introduction to death cafes. 553401 A 10-11 am Tu 10/14 BCCC, Level 2, Program Room A Free for BCCC Members, Registration Required GENERATION RX: SAFE MEDICATION PRACTICES FOR LIFE The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and Cardinal Health Foundation This program is designed to offer helpful information about appropriate medication use for our older adults. Medications help us live longer and healthier lives; however, they can also produce harmful effects when not used properly. These open sessions teach you how to be your own advocate, learn safe medication practices as well as the risk of medication misuse. Sessions facilitated by OSU medical students.
