Older Adult MANSFIELD NATURE TRIP | 50+ YRS Recreation Staff Travel to Mansfield and start the day by visiting the Kingwood Center Gardens, renowned for its distinctive floral displays, unique plant specimens, woodland trails, historic mansion and gardens, display greenhouse, duck pond and peacocks. Enjoyment and inspiration are assured for horticultural experts, casual gardeners, and nature lovers alike. Unwind, relax, and be restored in the beauty of this exquisite garden estate that once was the home of the innovative industrialist, Charles Kelley King. Next, head to lunch at a local restaurant. Finally, take a tour of the Ohio Bird Sanctuary. The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a haven for native birds, a nature preserve and a living museum. Their team is dedicated to caring for and rehabilitating Ohio native birds, protecting natural habitat, and creating opportunities for people to engage with nature. Enjoy an informative two bird of prey presentation for our group and visit the bird area. Slow down and connect with nature using your spirit and senses. Your guide, trained by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, leads you in a series of activities on a gentle walk. Dress for the weather, including sturdy, preferably waterproof shoes, as trails can be muddy. Adult BIRDING BY BOAT - KAYAKING | 18+ YRS Columbus Recreation and Parks Celebrate fall migration season by exploring the birds and other wildlife using the Scioto River corridor. All needed equipment and basic kayak instruction provided. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes that can get wet/muddy. Bring binoculars at your own risk; they aren’t necessary and could get wet. Note: This program is weather dependent; in the event of inclement weather, it is rescheduled. Benefits can include improved physical and mental health. The practice focuses on cultivating a sense of reciprocity between you and the forest. The guide facilitates a sequence of invitations that allows you to enjoy both structure and spontaneity in your experience.
