INTERESTED IN LEADING A CLASS? Instructors are always in demand for UA Parks & Rec programming. The majority of programming is provided by contractual instructors who provide program proposals in advance of season planning. April is stress management month! To celebrate, the CARES social worker is hosting a class focused on understanding and managing stress. We discuss how to identify signs of stress, explore the ways stress affects our bodies and daily functioning, and learn simple, effective strategies to reduce and manage stress. Join us to build healthier habits, boost resilience, and support your overall well-being. 552688 A 2:30-3:30 pm Th 4/23 BCCC, Level 2, Program Room A Mental Health Awareness May is Mental Health Awareness month! In recognition, the CARES social worker is leading a class focused on understanding and supporting mental well-being. We cover common mental health concerns and practical strategies to maintain wellbeing. Participants learn about local resources Caregiving is an important full-time role. Join us to learn how to recognize and reduce common signs of caregiver burnout. This session explores practical strategies, self-care techniques, and available resources to help caregivers support both themselves and their loved ones more sustainably. 552690 A 2:30-3:30 pm Tu 6/16 BCCC, Level 2, Program Room A Self-Care Strategies Join the CARES team as we discuss favorite practices and explore new ways to prioritize self-care. This session focuses on practical strategies that can be incorporated into daily routines. Meet the CARES team as we discuss advanced directive planning such as living wills, healthcare power of attorney and DNRs. FEARLESS CPR | 50+ YRS Betty Giammar, RN, BSN
Earn your American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Class taught by AHA certified instructor Betty Giammar, RN. Includes use of manikins and personal instruction. Participants receive AHA certificate after completing class requirements. Bank Drive, Meet at Ballfield Free, registration required IT HAS A ‘RING’ TO IT: HOW TO MANAGE TINNITUS Gail Whitelaw, PhD, Audiologist and Director of OSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic Tinnitus is a sound experienced in the ears, usually described as a ringing, buzzing, hissing in the ears. Tinnitus impacts as many as 70 million Americans. However, most people are told to “get over it” or that there’s nothing that can be done to relieve the tinnitus. This session is designed to provide an overview of tinnitus and to share solutions that are available to people experiencing tinnitus.
