UNIFIED PICKLEBALL OPEN PLAY | 8+ YRS Recreation Staff This inclusive program brings together individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to enjoy the fun and fast-paced sport of pickleball. Unified sports foster connection, teamwork, and physical activity, offering meaningful benefits for participants of all abilities—pickleball is no exception. A recreation staff member is available to explain the rules and suggest adaptations as needed, while play remains primarily self-organized. Nets and balls are provided; paddles are available in limited supply, so bringing your own is recommended. Activities are designed to promote independence, socialization, and engagement within the community in an inclusive and fun environment. Participants help to plan activities that take place one or two times a month on Sundays at locations in the local area. All events are supervised by paid staff. A complete schedule of activities is provided to registrants. Cost below includes $1.00 Play UA Financial Assistance Fee. ADAPTIVE AQUATICS | 3-17 YRS Recreation Staff Adaptive Aquatics classes are geared for children with special needs. This program is designed to give individuals an opportunity to experience the benefits of aquatics and prepare for the possibility of progressing into our American Red Cross swim lesson program. With the assistance of aquatics staff, participants work on their swimming abilities and comfort level in the water. These individual classes are taught in a non competitive environment and 1:1 with an instructor, allowing each child to progress at their own pace. Our seasoned instructors have aquatics experience teaching individuals with diverse abilities and cater each lesson to the needs of each child. These monthly events are designed for a wide range of skill levels and abilities, featuring seasonal crafts and hands-on activities. An experienced instructor guides participants through each step, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment. Trick or treat around the Event Center, eat pizza, and play fall-themed games! Prizes for top costumes. No scary costumes. Community partners join in on the fun to help provide treats and smiles.
