WONDERS ABOVE & BELOW | 50+ YRS Recreation Staff Start the day at Ohio Caverns, often recognized as “America’s most colorful caverns.” The caverns are the largest in the state, with approximately one mile of surveyed passage ranging in depth from 30 feet to 103 feet. The winter tour includes highlights of the Natural Wonder Tour and Historic Tour plus a section that is not toured during the summer session, providing guests with a balance of historical and geological information. Descend 38 steps into the cavern, walk on a level concrete path throughout the cavern and exit 60 steps into a small building. After the caverns, eat lunch at The Farmer’s Daughter in Urbana. Then go to Freshwater Farms to tour the largest indoor fish hatchery in Ohio! Tours include educational exhibits and displays, trout feeding frenzy, sturgeon petting zoo and live animal exhibits with interactive critter displays. Korngold’s emotionally rich Violin Concerto delights and elevates the occasion with its lyrical beauty. Falla’s El amor brujo and Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 complete the program in a lively homage to Flamenco, Latin dance and Spanish passion. After the performance, eat lunch in German Village.
