A DAY TRIP TO HISTORIC MARIETTA | 50+ YRS Recreation Staff Learn the rich history of Marietta, the first permanent organized settlement in the Northwest Territory located at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. We start our day in Marietta aboard a trolley for a guided 90-minute tour to hear stories about the early pioneers and the town’s history, museums, architecture and Native American earthworks. After our trolley tour, we enjoy lunch with a riverfront view at the Levee House Bistro, located in the only remaining original riverfront structure in town. We finish our day with a guided tour of the Rufus Putnam House and a self-guided tour of the Campus Martius Museum, both built on the site of the original stockade by the Ohio Company between 1788 and 1791. Bring a payment method for lunch. Registration includes guided tours, admissions and transportation in our 14-passenger shuttle bus. Dinner is on your own after the conclusion of our day trip.
