Explore an autumn day in the iconic Hocking Hills State Park. We start the morning with a short and easy 1/2-mile roundtrip hike on the Ash Cave Gorge Trail, a paved, flat path through the valley forest. At the end of the paved trail, we take in the stunning Ash Cave from the sandy floor bottom, and we may also be treated to a small waterfall (depending on rain/water conditions) before turning back around. At 700 feet long, 100 feet wide and 90 feet tall, Ash Cave is the largest recess cave in the state. Next, we reward ourselves with lunch before heading to Hocking Hills Moonshine for a distillery tour and tasting opportunity. Once finished, we enjoy an opportunity to shop for unique gifts at the Hocking Hills Antique Mall before we head back to Upper Arlington. Dress according to the weather; tennis shoes and/or hiking boots are recommended. Bring a payment method for lunch, moonshine tasting and shopping. Registration includes transportation to and from the Senior Center in our 14-passenger shuttle bus. The Westcott House is the earliest Wright designed house built in Ohio and the only Prairie style house designed by Wright in the state of Ohio. After touring this unique house and learning about its architect and owners, we enjoy lunch together before heading to the Springfield Museum of Art, the only art museum in Ohio affiliated with the national Smithsonian Institution. We spend some free time perusing the galleries of the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions before heading back home. Registration includes admission to both attractions, the docent-led tour and transportation to and from the Senior Center in our 14-passenger shuttle bus.
