Adult TRI-VILLAGE BIKING TOUR | 18+ YRS Columbus Landmarks Foundation, @CycleCbus Join us for a morning bike ride through the Tri-Village area, where attendees can learn about the architectural styles and history of Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, and Marble Cliff neighborhoods with Columbus Landmark’s very own Dr. Kemper & area historian, @CycleCbus’s Michael Smith. Bring your helmet, your bike and a curious mind on all things preservation and cycling. We start the biking tour at the Mallway Park CoGo station in case any attendee needs to rent a bike for the day’s tour and conclude with tips for how to access bike paths to other notable greater Columbus destinations like The Ohio State University campus. Some attention is paid to the language needs of travelers. The format includes lectures, in-class conversation practice and one or two hours of homework each week. The process can be overwhelming, but as a publisher of five children’s picture books, Andra has lots of helpful real-world advice. She discusses finding the right idea and provides useful tips on how to craft your story. Andra also shares her experiences about manuscripts, editors and finding the right illustrator and publisher. This class is ideal for the experienced beginner as well as the player who needs a refresher or review of modern bridge. We examine basic bidding and card playing techniques, then set up guidelines for Overcalls, Take-Out Doubles, Slam Bidding etc. Each class consists of a mini-lecture, discussion of a worksheet, and playing prepared hands. 443007 A 10 am-Noon F 9/20-10/25 Senior Center Bldg 2, Rm 204 $82 R | $98 NR O 6 sessions ADVANCED BRIDGE: POPULAR CONVENTIONS | 18+ YRS Marsha Reall This is an advanced, comprehensive class that examines “No-Trump” Bridge conventions including: Jacoby Transfer, Puppet Stayman, Checkback Stayman, Smolen, DONT (Disturb Opponents No Trump), Gambling 3NT, etc. In addition to daily worksheets, extra practice hands are provided to differentiate between similar bidding situations. What properties do different crystals have? How do I choose one? What are the colors and meanings? Learn how to set up the board, learn the names of the pieces and how they move, learn special rules such as castling, promotion, En passant, etc. Also learn about online resources for learning and playing the game.
