ENRICH
Greetings, In this edition of the Activity Guide , I will review two important changes for services which are intentionally being modified to better serve our residents and customers. Older Adult Services The City has been evaluating how it can best leverage its resources in support of the community’s senior residents, a process that was initiated this summer following a series of recent developments and new opportunities. The opening of the Bob Crane Community Center has greatly expanded the facilities and programs available to the community’s older adults compared to the former Senior Center. As a result, many more older adults are choosing to become active members of the Community Center – with membership levels increasing by more than 80% since the transition. Additionally, the UA CARES paramedicine program has been growing, integrating support services from the Police Division within its portfolio and most recently adding a social worker position to the team. The strength of the CARES program when combined with the wealth of opportunities available at the Community Center, presents a unique opportunity to consolidate City and community-driven older adult services to enhance existing programming, explore new opportunities, centralize and expand volunteer opportunities, and simplify the user experience for older adults and their families. A City team has been undertaking a detailed assessment of existing programs and resources provided by the City and by other entities, to ultimately prepare for a smooth transition in services while also better understanding the needs of residents.
Being able to age in place is a deeply meaningful goal for many older adults—it allows them to remain in their homes and the community they know and love, surrounded by familiar people, places, and routines. To accomplish this goal requires a range of scalable and responsive resources and services to maintain a safe home environment, support health and wellness needs, provide social connections and more. The CARES and Parks & Rec team are excited at the opportunity to build a robust, sustainable program that supports and enriches the lives of older adults through all stages of the aging process. If you have any questions about the transition in older adult services, please contact our Parks & Rec Department, at 614-583-5326 or olderadults@uaoh.net . Activity Guide Content Structure Adjustments This edition of the Activity Guide organizes programs first by age group, then by program topic. Based on customer feedback, there is a preference to view all classes by age group to make it easier to explore offerings across various activity types. We appreciate this input and hope the new structure helps you find and select programs more efficiently. Launch of Fitness Class Passes Another change—also driven by customer feedback—is an update to our Adult Group Fitness model. We’re introducing a Monthly Unlimited Group Fitness Pass as a membership add-on, along with Punch Pass options available in increments of one, five, and 10 classes. These flexible options allow participants to join classes as their schedules permit and to try new programs without committing to a full session. Please note that the Older Adult Fitness and Water Fitness programs will continue to require full-session registration in advance and will not be included in the group fitness pass.

More information about the updated format and pricing can be found on page 50. The Monthly Unlimited Fitness Pass and Punch Passes will go on sale starting December 1, and will be available for use beginning in 2026. Our department strives to provide exceptional services and these changes illustrate our willingness to listen and modify services based on customer feedback. I hope you have a safe winter season and take part in the many activities we offer.

PROGRAM INFORMATION & FAQS Helpful Tips • Most programs require pre-registration prior to attending, except for those included in the Adult Group Fitness Pass. • It is encouraged to sign up early. Most programs have a minimum that must be reached to take place. Cancellations are generally made two to five business days in advance of a program but sometimes occur further in advance. Some programs have posted registration deadlines. • See page 25 for cancellation, refund and credit policies. • Most programs are available for registration once season registration opens. If a special registration date is set for a program, it is noted with the program information. • Registration opens first to verified residents and/ or members of the Bob Crane Community Center. Residents must be verified to register during priority registration and to receive the resident rate for all UA Parks & Rec programs, memberships and rentals. To be verified, residents can submit proof of residency documents (driver’s license/state ID, utility bill, rental agreement, paystub, tax return, etc.) either in their online account or in person to UA Parks & Rec. A resident either pays property or income tax to the City of Upper Arlington. Any non-residents must be current members of the Bob Crane Community Center to register during priority registration and to receive program resident rates. PLEASE NOTE: a $1 fee is charged on most transactions in our registration system that supports our PLAY UA Financial Assistance program. INTERESTED IN LEADING A CLASS? Instructors are always in demand for UA Parks & Rec programming. The majority of programming is provided by contractual instructors who provide program proposals in advance of season planning. If you are interested in offering a program or know someone you’d like to recommend, please reach out to Eliese Kendrick, Recreation Manager at ekendrick@uaoh.net.
FAQs I s a membership required to sign up for programs? No, a Bob Crane Community Center membership is not required for most program participation. However, non members may not access membership amenities such as the 1918 Lounge and coffee bar, or personal use of the gyms, track, pool or fitness areas/equipment. Non members may only access programs for which they are pre-registered. A handful of programs are provided as a benefit for Bob Crane Community Center members, and do not require an additional fee beyond the membership. Personal Training services are available to members of the Bob Crane Community Center. What do “R-BCCC M” and “NR” mean under my program next to the pricing? Two different prices are offered for most programs. The price listed beside R-BCCC M is for verified residents or current members of the Bob Crane Community Center. Non-residents receive the resident rate for programs if they are a member of the Bob Crane Community Center. The BCCC M rate applies to everyone included in the household’s online account. The price listed beside NR is for non-residents who are not members of the Bob Crane Community Center. How early may I arrive for my program at the Bob Crane Community Center, and may I remain in the building after? Non-members may enter the building and check in at the front desk no earlier than 30 minutes before the start of their program and are expected to leave upon its conclusion. Who may accompany me to my program? Non-member aides or parents/guardians of youth and their minors may accompany participants to their program locations. Additional instructions are provided to program participants regarding the attendance of other spectators or guests for special programs or events. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to parks@uaoh.net in advance. Can I utilize SilverSneakers® and RenewActive™ for discounted membership or programming? SilverSneakers® and RenewActive™ are accepted for Bob Crane Community Center membership. We also provide SilverSneakers® classes to registered SilverSneakers® participants at no charge.
