I hope you are enjoying fall activities and visiting our parks this season. As you may be enjoying our current services, our team is busy planning for the operations of the Bob Crane Community Center in the spring. Before we get into details for the Community Center, here are a few service updates as you plan for the winter and upcoming program registration. • Summer Day Camp – in 2025, Summer Day Camp will expand to a fourth location due to the Upper Arlington School District offering a second school location. This will add an additional 80 spaces for children to participate next summer. See page 34 for program and registration information. • Rec Trac Resident Verification – over the past few months, residents were asked to verify their household account residency in Rec Trac, our registration portal. Upper Arlington residents receive early registration access and reduced fees on several programs and memberships. Any resident that has not completed that process should do so to avoid issues during registration and to ensure the correct fees are applied to all transactions. Residents creating a new household account can upload verification as they create their account. Bob Crane Community Center As you drive by the construction site, you will see the exterior and grounds looking complete. These areas are wrapping up while the interior construction continues to remain on schedule. The target opening is slated for spring. Once key construction schedules and delivery of furnishings are set an anticipated opening date can be planned. The parking deck on the northern section of the parking lot by Giant Eagle is open providing additional spaces for people visiting the Kingsdale Shopping Center and area businesses. The Community Center website contains information on hours of operations and fees for membership, daily admission, child watch, e-sports, rental spaces and party packages. At
this time, information is not available regarding the usage of Silver Sneakers ® or Renew Active ™ for facility membership; once information is available it will be shared through several communication methods. A section of Frequently Asked Questions provides information on several topics related to the operations of the facility. Actions for Customers In planning for making use of the Community Center, customers can prepare their household account and begin to make plans for private events, holiday gifts, and potential employment. Rental Spaces Reservations are being accepted for several spaces within the facility for functions beginning mid-May, including: • Fifth Floor Event Center: A large event space that can accommodate up to 250 attendees at round tables with adjacent gallery, skyline balcony, and green room with catering kitchen and audio-visual equipment to support your event. This space is ideal for wedding receptions, conferences, graduation celebrations and more. This facility can be rented in its entirety or as three smaller spaces. As a pre-opening special, any rental of the three-room Event Center booked in 2024 will receive a 25% discount. • Resident/Member and Non-Resident rates are available, with pricing scaled according to peak/non-peak days and holidays. As an example, the rate for a Friday or Sunday rental of the entire space will be $235 per hour for Residents/Members, and $353 per hour for Non-Residents. Information with rates for all days of the week is available online. • Gymnasium: The Main Gym with two regular full courts gymnasiums with wood flooring and the Auxiliary Gym with one full court and rubberized flooring. Each court is lined for basketball, volleyball and pickleball and open for other uses. Each full-court gymnasium is available for $60 per hour for Residents/ Members, and $120 per hour for Non Residents.
