MAPLE SUGARING TOUR & DAY TRIP | 50+ YRS Recreation Staff Learn how maple syrup is collected and then processed into the sweet and syrupy goodness we all enjoy! We travel to Shepherd’s Corner Ecology Center in Blacklick where experts explain the maple sugaring process from start to finish including tree sap tapping, the boiling process, and other pertinent information to creating syrup for your breakfast using local natural resources. We may also have an opportunity to taste their syrup as well. Due to the unpredictable nature of maple season based on when freezing temperatures occur in the winter, some parts of the tour may be demonstrated with water rather than sap. However, we are hopeful the timing is optimal. After our tour, we enjoy lunch in nearby Gahanna before heading back home. Lunch is on your own. Registration includes tour and transportation to and from the Senior Center in our 14-passenger shuttle bus. Dress comfortably for the weather. Challenge level 3.
