EXPERIENCE ENRICH

EXPLORE

This year, UA Parks & Rec was excited to introduce our new brand and pillars - Explore, Experience and Enrich – to help us reorganize and enhance how we share updates on our programs and services. The response from our customers has been very positive and we look forward to further expanding the use of our brand across all platforms in the months ahead. Construction of the Bob Crane Community Center continues to make great progress, with a target opening of Spring/Summer 2025. From an initial exploration of the feasibility for an Upper Arlington community center through to the detailed design process undertaken over the past year, community input has been critical to the success of this project. True to the spirit of keeping residents involved, as we transition to the final planning stages for this exciting new facility, additional opportunities for community input are on the horizon. In 2024, we plan to host a series of focus groups to learn how residents plan to make use of the Community Center, to help guide programming and operations. These focus groups will primarily take place virtually, while there may be some in-person opportunities based on topics. Focus Group Topics: • Adaptive Recreation – Youth • Adaptive Recreation – Adult/Senior • Aquatics – All ages • Arts, Music, Dance - Youth • Arts, Music, Dance - Adult/Senior • Education & Enrichment – Youth • Education & Enrichment – Adult/Senior • Fitness & Wellness – Youth • Fitness & Wellness – Adult/Senior • Sports – Youth • Sports – Adult/Senior • Teens (in addition to meeting at UA Middle & High Schools) • Community Center Operations (membership, hours, child watch, policies, parking) • Businesses The sessions marked “Youth” are intended for adults’ participation relative to thoughts and ideas on programs for youth. The “Teens” session is intended for current middle and high school students.

We invite you to register to participate in these focus groups now through January 2024. The group discussions will begin in February, and everyone registered will be contacted in advance of these sessions. Some highlights in this issue of the Activity Guide: EXPLORE • Parks offer an array of features and amenities especially during the fall-winter-spring seasonal changes • The Amelita Mirolo Barn and Thompson Park shelters are available for private gatherings • The Senior Center can be a respite from the cold and way to connect with fellow seniors
