Amanda from Petals That Inspire guides guests through creating a beautiful vase arrangement in a garden style. You might just discover a new favorite flower! A seasonal variety of fresh flowers in feminine hues are included in your arrangement. All supplies and fresh flowers are provided. 441573 A 6:30-8 pm Tu 2/6 Sunny 95 Park, Amelita Mirolo Barn $72 HOW TO KICK “BUT” AND LIVE FREE | 15+ YRS Jessie Barth Following “How to Stop Negative Self Talk,” this fourth class in the Single-speak Series focuses on how to meet and master the “but” which limits our satisfaction in life. For example, “I’m good, but . . .” “She’s nice, but. . .” “He’s healthy, but . . .” Etc. The first hour includes instruction, followed by the second hour of application and conversation. Barth pioneered her practical system of thinking with a class called, “How to Build a Million Dollar Vocabulary” at The Learning Annex in New York City. In each class, participants learn how to identify the negative thoughts (words) that are adversely affecting their bodies and peace of mind. Are you ready to educate your child about the responsibilities of being home alone? Our goal is to help every student feel more comfortable while home alone. This interactive course teaches topics such as first aid, Self-Heimlich maneuver, reasons to call 911, fire escape plans, microwave safety and how to problem solve out-of-the-ordinary situations. A parent guide is included in the student manual, which provides helpful discussion points between parent and child. 212602 A 4-6 pm W 1/31-2/7 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 104 $92 R | $112 NR O 2 sessions BETTER BABY SITTERS | 10-15 YRS Enriching Kidz Would your son or daughter know what to do if the child they were babysitting started to choke? Would they know what to do if they were taking care of several children and someone came to the door? Does your child baby sit younger siblings? Students learn the responsibilities of having a job, the Rights of a Baby Sitter, Heimlich maneuver, CPR for a Child and Infant, Basic First Aid, Growth and Development, and appropriate toys and activities for kids. They also learn diaper changing, infant care and how to feed a toddler. The most important component of the Better Baby Sitters course is that it’s fun! Learn basic knitting skills including casting on, knit and purl stitches, shaping and binding off. We cover how to correct simple mistakes and how to read a pattern. Work on a project of your choice with supervision from our experienced (and extremely patient!) instructor. Knitting needles, practice yarn and an instruction booklet included. This class is appropriate for those who have taken Beginning Knitting or who already have basic knitting skills. Circular and double pointed needles as well as patterns are provided. Students should bring two skeins of #4 wool, wool blend or acrylic yarn for the hat projects.
