BEGINNING CROCHET | 13+ YRS Joyce Lewis Crocheting is therapeutic and a wonderful hobby for any time of the year. Learn basic crochet skills including chain stitching and other simple stitches, how to hold a crochet hook and how to attach new yarn. We also discuss how to correct simple mistakes and how to read a pattern. Practice crocheting flat and in the round with supervision from our experienced (and extremely patient!) instructor. Hook, practice yarn and instructions are supplied. Limited enrollment. 442014 A 7-8:30 pm Th 6/11-7/2 Knitting is therapeutic and a wonderful hobby for any time of the year. Learn basic knitting skills including casting on, knit and purl stitches, shaping and binding off. We cover how to correct simple mistakes and how to read a pattern. Work on a project of your choice with supervision from our experienced (and extremely patient!) instructor. Knitting needles, practice yarn and an instruction booklet included. GIVE IT A TRI: BEGINNER INDOOR TRIATHLON | 14+ YRS Recreation Staff
The Indoor Triathlon is great for beginner and experienced triathletes returning after a break! Swim in the indoor pool, bike on a spin bike and run around the indoor track. Each leg of the event is 20-minutes and your distance is recorded. Medals are awarded to winners with the furthest distance. Your heat time is assigned five business days prior to the event, with the heat start times being scheduled between 7 am-Noon. All participants receive a t-shirt and swim cap. Please sign up at least two weeks prior. 442374 A 7 am-1:15 pm Su 5/3 BCCC, Level 1, Party Room $60 R-BCCC M | $72 NR CYCLE UA | ALL AGES Recreation Staff Enjoy a family-friendly community bike ride through Upper Arlington, complete with rest stops, parks and neighborhood views. Choose to ride the large group event on Saturday, or register for the independent ride on your own time over the weekend. The large group event includes a finish line celebration with breakfast, games, and music. NEW THIS YEAR: A pancake, sausage, and orange juice breakfast is included with registration and available at the finish line. Additionally, registration for kids 4 years & under now includes a t-shirt at a reduced rate; use either section D or H. 5, 10 and 15 mile routes available; all routes start and finish at Northam Park. Course map, directions and ride packets included with registration. Cycle UA t-shirt included with registration by July 31; T-shirts not guaranteed after July 31. The late registration deadline is August 23. On-site registration available the morning of the event. No refunds after July 31. Helmets are mandatory. Registration required for all riders. We need volunteers! Volunteers who register by July 31 and show up for their shift receive a free T-shirt.
