Painting on a gesso surface provides an opportunity for experimentation, creating light values as well as vibrant clean colors. Elements of design and value stressed through demonstration, individual attention and class critique. Purchase the gesso-prepared surface, at minimal cost, from the instructor. In this watercolor workshop, after designing our paintings and learning how to save the whites, we actually pour paints onto a surface as we watch the mingling colors result in lights, darks and the unexpected! Next, we enhance and further accent our poured images with brushwork as we each create and complete an entirely unique painting. Some basic art experience is helpful. We now offer two ceramics options. Section A is for beginners or those looking for more guidance and instruction. Section B is for those with past pottery wheel experience that want to hone their craft during studio time with no instruction provided. Section A registrants receive instruction on the wheel throwing process through targeted demonstrations, as well as individual guidance throughout. Clay and limited glaze options provided.
