MOTHER’S DAY TREE PLANTING | ALL AGES Parks & Forestry Staff Spend time with trees and your mom! Bring your mom (or mother figure) to a Tree Planting and Young Tree Care 101 class. Learn the basics of proper tree care, from selecting the right tree to proper planting and pruning techniques. Learn how to raise young trees from seedlings all the way to adulthood. Participants help plant trees at the park (equipment provided). Moms receive a small to medium native tree sapling to take home and plant in their yard to celebrate Mother’s Day. Tea, coffee and scones are provided with registration, along with mom’s sapling. Beginners learn paddle technique, how to launch, and stand or kneel to maneuver your board safely throughout the waterways. Those with more experience have the option of refreshing their knowledge during the beginner lesson or taking advantage of more time on the water instead. All paddlers can enjoy exploring Griggs Reservoir. All equipment, safety gear and photos of your session provided. SUP is family friendly, but children must use their own board, be at least 60” tall and at least 100 lbs. Swimming ability is required. Limited enrollment. Specific meeting location is shared the week of the event. Youth EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS | 6-12 YRS Recreation Staff It’s time to get outside for some unstructured play in the woods. Kids can run, explore, build, splash and get curious in nature’s playground. Let their creativity run wild in nature. Each week we explore a new park in Upper Arlington! 222529 A 3:30-5 pm W 6/5-6/26 Smith Nature Park $40 R | $48 NR O 4 sessions FAMILY FALCONRY | 9+ YRS Ohio School of Falconry Join Master Class falconer Joe Dorrian of the Ohio School of Falconry to learn about the ancient sport of falconry. Handle and fly one of the school’s trained Hawks in this exciting program! Get a general overview of the sport and a strong focus in raptor ecology/conservation, predator/ prey relationships, and all the basics of handling a trained falconry raptor. Instructor provides all necessary equipment. Students should not wear anything made of real or faux fur to this program. Meet our hawks on this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
