JUNE 6/4 - The Bird Feeder: Are you feeding the birds in winter? We try to capture them back into our yards through watercolors. 6/11 - Tropical Palm Trees: The fans of palms with light that shines between the prongs, crisscross and create wonder patterns. Their trunks are elaborate and there are so many varieties. Your favorites will shine! 6/18 - Animals Gone Wild: Dress up your favorite animal with human clothes. This is a chance to enjoy life through the world of humor. Cows in pajamas, cats wearing hats...you get the idea! 6/25 - Catch-Up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 552115 C 1-3 pm Tu 6/4-6/25 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions JULY 7/2-7/23 - Pets: Select four pets and it can be the same one! A cat, a dog, etc. Try a watercolor skill you wish to develop. It could be dry brush, vertical hold drawing, laying the wash or neutral colors. Composition is used in discussion and applied. This is a chance to do a friend a favor by painting their pet! One per week over the next four Mondays of July. 7/30 - Catch-Up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 552115 D 1-3 pm Tu 7/2-7/30 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $50 O 5 sessions AUGUST 8/6 - Dreamscapes: Paint an imaginary dreamscape. It can be abstract or just a funny series of oddities. Let your personality lead it. Could be a world of pies or a beach that has a gigantic shell. 8/13 - Roses: Now is a wonderful time to practice the art of watercolor with roses. There are quick techniques that you can use with “gesture brush stroke” paintings. We leave the white of the paper. Prints are there to help you. 8/20 - Still Life with Flowers in a Vase: The Rule of Thirds is a classic composition rule in the history of art. We review old paintings we have done and see if this would have helped in the composition. This is just one of the many ways to design. 8/27 - Catch-Up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 552115 E 1-3 pm Tu 8/6-8/27 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions

APRIL 4/2 - Cubist Flower: Like Paul Cezanne, we learn much about the 3D look of squares as it applies to our imagination. The angles of various perspectives are explored as they raise eyebrows. Soft edge techniques help create volume. 4/9 - Abstract Cityscape: As Paul Klee did, when preparing a watercolor, we draw a city street using “contour lines” in pencil. These linear lines create a free flow as they move the silhouette of an object to object. Demonstrations are given to students unfamiliar with the technique to see how it is done. Limited four-color palette plus white paper. Prints provided. 4/16 - Rainy Day Daffodils: View the technique in a demo. The various was to make it rain on our gardens of daffodils. How to draw and paint them also! Did you know its petals form the star of David? Prints provided of various spring flowers with raindrops. 4/23 - Catch-Up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 552115 A 1-3 pm Tu 4/2-4/23 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions MAY 5/7 - Iris: One of the interesting things to draw and paint is the Iris. The beautifully turned petals demand we use parallel line to show the curvature and the compositions of botanicals are discussed. 5/14 - Paint People in a Garden: Whether they are standing or sitting, we can use a simplified method of pressing and lifting. Holding the brush is essential to the skill of watercolor. It also requires when to what brush when. 5/21 - The Garden Bench: A bench that you may have photographed, as I have, brought us comfort on our walks. Let us recreate the experience. 5/28 - Catch-Up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 552115 B 1-3 pm Tu 5/7-5/28 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions
