Local Day Trips Enjoy these oppotunities for local exploration and fun! Visit or call the Senior Center Staff at 614-583-5320 to sign up for trips. You may register for day trips after seasonal registration begins. Register in advance to ensure your spot! All trasportation provided via the City’s comfortable 14-passenger shuttle bus.

GRUB CLUB | 50+ YRS Recreation Staff

Gather with new friends to enjoy a meal out on the town. You may register to ride our 14-passenger bus from the Senior Center or there are a limited number of spots for those who would like to drive on their own at the same price. Bring a payment method to purchase all meals and beverages. Attendees order at the restaurant; no pre-ordering required. End time varies. Pre-register at least one week prior. Passenger bus riders meet at the Senior Center in Building 2. Self-drivers receive the restaurant address in an emailed pdf receipt. We start the morning with a short and easy ½ mile roundtrip hike on the Ash Cave Gorge Trail, a paved, flat path through the valley forest. At the end of the paved trail, we take in the stunning Ash Cave from the sandy floor bottom and we may also be treated to a small waterfall (depending on rain/water conditions) before turning back around. At 700 feet long, 100 feet wide and 90 feet tall, Ash Cave is the largest recess cave in the state. Next, we reward ourselves with lunch at The Ridge Inn before heading to Jack Pine Studio to see a professional glassblower at work. We also have a chance to peruse their shop for beautiful pieces of artwork before we head back to Columbus. Dress according to the weather; tennis shoes and/or hiking boots are recommended. Lunch is on your own. Registration includes transportation to and from the Senior Center in our 14-passenger shuttle bus. Challenge level 3 . AUTUMN APPLE PICKING & FARM TOUR 50+ YRS Recreation Staff Enjoy apple picking, a treasure of the autumn season at Lynd Fruit Farm along with a tour of the Farm’s production and farm facili ties. Hear about the history of the 100-year-old farm, check out live honeybees in the learning center, observe the apple packing line and learn about how Lynd maximizes science and nature to grow the best apples possible. We also pick our own apples to take home and enjoy! After the tour, peruse the farm’s market where you can find locally grown produce, gift items and spe cialty goods such as jams, fruit butters, salsas, honey, pickles, etc. Before heading back home, we enjoy lunch in nearby Pataskala. Lunch and market shopping is on your own. Registration includes tour, apples and transportation to and from the Senior Center in our 14-passenger shuttle bus. Challenge level 3 .
