KIDZ HOME ALONE | 9-12 YRS Enriching Kidz

Are you ready to educate your child about the responsibilities of being home alone? Our goal is to assist every student to feel more comfortable while home alone. This interactive course teaches topics such as First Aid, Self-Heimlich maneuver, reasons to call 911, fire escape plans, microwave safety and how to problem solve out of the ordinary situations. A parent guide is included in the student manual which provides helpful discussion points between parent and child. 232602 A 4-6 pm M 9/18-9/25 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 104 $78 R | $94 NR O 2 sessions STRESS-LESS KIDZ | 9-12 YRS Enriching Kidz Our Stress-Less Kidz class helps your child learn more about ways to relax, feel calmer and at peace. This class helps your child understand both positive and negative stress and how anxiety can affect them physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally. This class focuses on stress management techniques, which include coping techniques, gratitude, mindfulness and self-soothing strategies. 232633 A 4-6 pm M 10/30-11/13 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 104 $107 R | $128 NR O 3 sessions STITCH AND SEW KIDZ | 9-12 YRS Enriching Kidz Learn the basics of sewing stitches, cutting materials from templates, threading needles, tying knots, sewing buttons and how to correct mistakes. No experience necessary and all projects can be taken home! 232662 A 4-6 pm Tu 10/10-10/17 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $90 R | $110 NR O 2 sessions BETTER BABYSITTERS | 11-15 YRS Enriching Kidz Would your son or daughter know what to do if the child they were babysitting started to choke? Would they know what to do if they were taking care of several children and someone came to the door? Does your child baby sit younger siblings? Students learn the responsibilities of having a job, the Rights of a Baby Sitter, Heimlich maneuver, CPR for a Child and Infant, Basic First Aid, Growth and Development and appropriate toys and activities for kids. They also learn diaper changing, infant care and how to feed a toddler. The most important component of the Better Baby Sitters course is that it’s fun! We talk about the basics and the history of humor. Then we discuss how to make something funny and add some humor to your writing. From speeches and essays to books and short stories, everything is better with a little humor. 443214 A 6-8 pm Th 9/21 Municipal Services Center, Lower Level Meeting Room $22 R | $26 NR BEGINNING KNITTING | 14+ YRS Joyce Lewis Knitting is therapeutic and a wonderful hobby for any time of the year. Learn basic knitting skills including casting on, knit and purl stitches, shaping and binding off. We cover how to correct simple mistakes and how to read a pattern. Work on a project of your choice with supervision from our experienced (and extremely patient!) instructor. Knitting needles, practice yarn and an instruction booklet included.
