WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP | 50+ YRS Mindy Newman

Mindy uses exercises to teach technique, color and composition. She mentors ongoing participation, this is not taught as a begin ner class; however, beginners are welcome to join this relaxed instruction and participants may work on their own project. Participants register for each month. Supplies and materials are on your own. A supply list is included as an attachment with the emailed receipt. Participants may choose to get colored watercolor prints for a $5 material fee paid directly to the instructor.

SEPTEMBER 9/5 - Koi in & out of Water: The trick is “brushing transparent pigmented wash” over the dried painting of the goldfish. 9/12 - Strange Tree Trunks: Creative ways to paint bark with the dry brush, line and wash over. 9/19 - Squirrels at Play: Love to watch the squirrels? Now you may try taming them with watercolor as we approach drawing them in their environment. 9/26 - Catch up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 553115 A 1-3 pm Tu 9/5-9/26 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions OCTOBER 10/3 - Color Wheels & Sunflowers: Van Gogh sunflowers studies dramatic opposite colors and closely related colors. 10/10 - The Grape Arbor: A life size study of botanical grapes and practice of volume lighting. 10/17 - Watercolor Miniature Studies: To help us identify the leaves that go with the name of the tree. Folding and creasing, we tear a 9”x12” sheet into four small artworks. 10/24 - Heirlooms: Bring in heirlooms from home you wish to paint like a ring, a pincushion, a perfume bottle, a basket, a letter or a fishing fly! 10/31 - Catch up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 553115 B 1-3 pm Tu 10/3-10/31 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $50 O 5 sessions

NOVEMBER 11/7 - Rock Formations: Playing off the artwork of Western artists, such as Georgia O’Keefe, we can use areas such as the Grand Canyon. Learn to cast shadows and dramatize skyscapes in one landscape. 11/14 - Turkeys: We prepare Thanksgiving turkeys and their amazingly homely faces. However, they do have beautiful tail feathers. 11/21 - First Frost: Saran Wrap creates frosted windowpanes and the salt in the wet paint creates snow. 11/28 - Catch up Day: Bring unfinished paintings to class to complete. 553115 C 1-3 pm Tu 11/7-11/28 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions DECEMBER 12/5 - Holly Leaves & Holly: This a quick and easy portrait of an elf’s face with a wreath of holly leaves in her hair. Techniques include painting in scribble, dots and dashes! 12/12 - Angel Wings: These are studies of bird wings. Mostly a time for peaceful painting and sweet music. 12/19 - Amaryllis & Poinsettias: Amaryllis look like trumpet lilies and are usually a vibrant red color. Leaf and petal turnings as color shifting techniques. 12/26 - Star of David: Abstract study using only triangles and an exercise of the color wheel. 553115 D 1-3 pm Tu 12/5-12/26 Senior Center Bldg 1, Rm 105 $40 O 4 sessions TAP DANCE FOR BEGINNERS | 50+ YRS Mary Bova-Ervin This beginning-level tap class for baby boomers and seniors teaches the fundamentals of tap using various techniques and styles. This class has lots of pizzazz and you learn steps with New York flair. No experience is needed. Coordination and balance are improved as you discover many different rhythm patterns.
